Did you know an estimated 2.7 million coffee cups are ‘thrown away’ every day by Australians? To coincide with the launch of National Recycling Week, our Melbourne team were engaged by Yarra City Council to manifest and create a powerful, thought-provoking place activation which would reinforce the Council’s current Waste Revolution campaign, with the expectation to amplify community awareness.
Four Days. Three giant transparent cubes. Over twelve cubic meters of waste. One City. The bold installation was prominently located within Fitzroy’s renowned Edinburgh Gardens. It integrated a number of messaging touchpoints that drove footfall to the main sculpture asking questions, prompting discussions and providing information along the way to help visitors reduce their plastic, clothing, food and general waste footprint and physically demonstrate ‘This is Your Waste’ amongst locals.
Yarra City was ‘placed on the map’ as an active player in the war against waste. The significant installation was featured in local and national news including Channel Seven. Our 60 sec social video was hosted across the Council’s social platforms post experience, on their website and as an inclusion in their monthly newsletter - reaching thousands of households, transforming perceptions and helping to generate change.
